France to Launch Rapid Access System for Youth Mental Health Care

(MENAFN) France is preparing to introduce a nationwide fast-track mental health program designed to provide swift care for young people showing signs of psychological distress.

“There will be an organization across the country among health professionals that will make it possible to get an appointment within 24-48 hours,” French Health Minister Stephanie Rist said on Tuesday.

According to reports, the initiative will focus on students identified by educational institutions as requiring urgent mental health support.

Under the planned system, school personnel—including nurses, doctors, teachers, and principals—will be able to alert emergency medical services and arrange rapid consultations with mental health specialists such as psychologists and psychiatrists.

As stated by reports, regional health agencies will oversee the coordination of the program and help manage urgent cases arising within schools.

The measure is intended to shorten waiting times for vulnerable young people and ensure quicker access to professional mental health care when concerns are identified by school staff.
